The New Space Project
Footlights is a thriving amateur drama group which tries to approach its work very "professionally." They first started performing in the 1920's, and bought the Grand Theatre in 1950 to save it from demolition. Ever since that time, it has been a careful balance of time and effort between theatrical productions, and the continuous work involved in running, maintaining and restoring an historic building. They currently produce six plays per season, including a Christmas Show which is specifically aimed at a junior audience, as well as one-act plays and a Youth Theatre production.
Members enjoy a full social life, with parties, barbecues, theatre trips, play readings etc. over the course of the year. All members receive a monthly newsletter which keeps them informed of impending productions, auditions, and  activities as well as more general  news. Full membership costs just £10 per year for adults and £7 for juniors. We have a large membership, (over 300) but with our own theatre to run, a full season of plays to cast, sets to build, backstage and front-of-house staff to find etc. we are always in need of new faces and fresh ideas and talents. Why don't you consider joining us? You'd be very welcome.
The benefits of joining Footlights include:
- Opportunity to audition and take part in productions
- Receipt of personal copy of the newsletter – Footnote (by email or £5 p.a paper copy)
- Voting status at the club AGM
- Great social life of this thriving amateur theatre company.
