Auditions
Lancaster Footlights auditions are open to anyone. You do not need to become a member until cast. If not stated otherwise they are held at the Grand Theatre on St Leonardgate. (Please go to the Stage Door and ring the bell or knock loudly). Experienced actors or beginners are all welcome. We also welcome anyone who wishes to help backstage rather than "tread the boards"...watch this space! If you are interested in helping with set, props or costumes, why not come along and watch auditions and meet the team.
Studio Footlights
Auditions will be held at the Gregson Community and Arts Centre on Monday 27th February at 7-30pm for The Pillowman by Martin Mc Donagh. This is a studio production which will be performed at the Gregson on Monday 14th, Tuesday15th and Wednesday 16th May at 7-30pm.
Synopsis:
With echoes of Stoppard, Kafka, and the Brothers Grimm, The Pillowman centres on a writer in an unnamed totalitarian state who is being interrogated about the gruesome content of his short stories and their similarities to a series of child murders. The result is an urgent work of theatrical bravura and an unflinching examination of the very nature and purpose of art.

Characters:
Katurian - a writer in a totalitarian state with a penchant for child horror stories (male)
Michal - Katurian's brother with learning difficulties
Tupolski - experienced police officer who enjoys the art of interrogation (male/female)
Ariel - the 'bad cop' colleague of Tupolski (male)
Minor characters (little or no dialogue)
Mum, Dad, "The Little Jesus" (girl), and boy
NB: due to the content of the play the parts of "The Little Jesus" and the boy will be played by 16 year olds and over. No-one under the age of 16 will be considered for a role.
