Dancing at Lughnasa

Dancing at Lughnasa is one of the most popular plays to have come out of Ireland in recent years.  It tells the story of the five impoverished Mundy sisters and their elder brother, as narrated by Michael, the adult son of the youngest sister. A poignant and often humorous tale, it is set during the summer of 1936 to a backdrop of the Irish troubles and a growing industrialisation that threatens to tear the family apart.

Audiences will experience a nostalgia-filled two hours where they will share the laughter and tears of these brave and feisty women.

The play was also made into a film starring Meryl Streep, Kathy Burke and Rhys Ifans and was released in 1998 to great acclaim.

The Production will run at 7.30pm nightly

from Tuesday 19th to Saturday 23rd October 2010

at the Grand Theatre, St Leonardgate, Lancaster
