An evening of superb variety entertainment for an excellent and much needed local cause!
Book today, brighten up a dark January evening and have a great night out, raising funds for local not-for-profit groups which support people with mental health problems alongside NHS teams and help raise awareness of the fact that mental health issues can affect absolutely anyone, from any background, in any profession, at any time. We need to lose the stigma associated with mental health and accept that it's not something that should bring judgement on the sufferer but is an illness which deserves treatment without bias, just the same as any physical condition. The money raised from ticket sales and the raffle will be distributed to groups working with people suffering with mental health issues in the UHMBT area.

The following amazing acts have given their time and trouble at no cost in order to support mental health awareness and groups, some have agreed to perform as they themselves, or friends and relatives, have experienced many of the issues addressed by the various teams in our area.

Danny Matthews - The Bay Radio’s ever-cheerful breakfast and Solid Gold Sunday host will compere the evening for us, poor Winston and Lulu have to stay at home…

Holly Lovelady - a delightful singer/songwriter from Kendal who has been recognised by BBC Introduces 2016 and 2017. She has performed at many, many events in the local area including the Christmas Lights Switch On in Kendal, Lancaster and Morecambe.

Tony Vino - a comedian from the Costa del Preston, half spanish/half Scottish hybrid! He has toured the comedy scene since 2005 and has enjoyed recognition for his seamless mix of observational humour, audience interaction and quick witted responses. He has supported TV acts such as Jimmy Cricket and Tim Vine, often performing on TV and radio.

Mazza Vee - a multi talented artist and performance poet from Liverpool/Lancaster, who has a remarkable way of expressing emotion in verse. Mazza will perform a poem addressing a mirror on stage and express the emotion many of us find difficult to deal with or explain.

Together - for one night only, a group of patients and local GPs, NHS staff/students and representatives from local support groups will perform I Love My Life, a Robbie Williams song, which has a powerful message of getting through the difficult times with the support of others and looking forward to a time when life is more enjoyable. If you are a patient, former patient, NHS staff or from a local support group and you would like to join us please email socialease@yahoo.com we’d love to have you, being good is not a requirement it’s all about being together!

There are also three acts awaiting confirmation including a street dance crew, a
spectacular modern tenor group and a stage magician combining magic and comedy, as they confirm we will update this page with more information.

The programme will contain details and contacts for local support groups as well as key messages from the NHS and a foreword written by a top performer who supports mental health awareness.
If you are involved in a mental health support group or not for profit counselling
organisation and you would like to be included in the programme and potentially benefit from the show proceeds,(if you are not yet in touch with us), please contact

Michael Jackson History Show

Tuesday 15th May at 7:30pm

Born and raised in the Northern Cape Kimberley region of South Africa, Dantanio’s musical family and gospel upbringing undoubtedly influenced him at a young age and set him on a steady path to becoming the accomplished impersonator and performer he is today.

Singing and dancing from the age of nine, Dantanio accrued a vast array of performance experience through his teens and early adulthood, trying his hand at school bands, theatre, cabaret work, corporate entertainment, composing hit songs for contemporary Pop artists and even producing his own solo albums.

But in 2014 when the coveted part of ‘Michael Jackson’ opened up in one of the world’s biggest MJ stage productions it was a dream role for Dantanio in more ways than one. As well as allowing him to exercise his music, dance and theatrical skills, this part spoke to him on a personal level.

Dantanio’s fascination and connection with Jackson began as a small boy when he was introduced to the King of Pop through his older brother who brought home a copy of Thriller on cassette in 1989. The album had a sound and feel that Dantanio (indeed the world) had never heard before and with his acute musical mind, even at the age of eight, he soon became fixated, stealing his brother’s cassette any time he was gone from the house to

play it on repeat and teach himself the now-famous choreography.

It was when he played the tape to exhaustion and broke it that he was ‘found out’ and consequently forced by his brother to show-off the results of his practice with a performance of ‘Billie Jean’. But instead of the jumble of awkwardness that was expected, Dantanio surprised his family with a shockingly astute imitation of the famous song and dance… his talent for impersonation was already evident.

In his teen years Dantanio’s obsessive dance practice continued as he taught himself to emulate every detail of the Pop star’s trademark dance style. So good was his imitation that it resulted in his disqualification from an amateur dance competition at age 16 because he was thought to be a professional dancer. This overt and genuine love for Jackson was one of the key factors that won Dantanio his starring role in The Michael Jackson History Show. The show’s Director, Johnny Van Grinsven, auditioned impersonators from around the world but found only one person had the unique combination of traits needed to fully inhabit the role – a technically astute voice, exceptional skill and style as a dancer, an observant nature and obsessive eye for

detail, and a physicality that would mould easily to match Jackson’s, plus one special quality: “Dantanio knows and loves Jackson. Audiences can sense that… at the core of it all he is just a fan like them and that makes it special, genuine, real.”

Coming ‘full circle’ from his beginnings as an inspired young MJ fan, Dantanio is now fulfilling his dream touring the world and performing as his idol in Showtime Australia’s The Michael Jackson HIStory Show, thankful every day that he gets to uphold Jackson’s legacy and to share his music and message of love with fans new and old. “It has always been my dream and vision to star as MJ on a world stage, he has given me so much joy and taught me so much… and he is still teaching me today.” - Dantanio

We've Only Just Begun - a Celebration of the Life and Music of Karen Carpenter

Wednesday 23rd May at 7:30pm

Karen was the voice of the multi-hit making group The Carpenters who along with her brother Richard, scored an unprecedented 17 consecutive billboard US top ten hits. The timeless quality of the Carpenters music makes it as relevant today as when they scored their first UK hit with Close to you in 1970.

Karen Carpenter had a unique voice, so unique in fact that it has proven almost impossible to duplicate its deep smoky emotional edge, creating that uniqueness that is so hard to perfect. Crooners

Friday 25th May at 7:30pm

This modern world does not always seem the place for men of style and vigour. Men with a penchant for sentiment, romance and charm. Men who own tap shoes.

Crooners follows the story of three very British gentlemen who exhume the characteristics of a crooner; suave, self-assured, stylish, as they defend the role of a crooner in our modern world. By the very same nature, it is not always obvious that these characteristics are adopted quite so well by the quintessentially British. Cue a splendiferous injection of British comedy. Tongue firmly in cheek. And an Outrageous injection of Big Band Swing.

This rip roaring comedy musical has been wowing audiences with its witty and exhilarating show full of satirical energy, hilarious one liners, laugh out loud silliness and superb musical numbers.

Featuring the outstanding and uncompromising live, on stage musicianship of the 9-piece band ‘The Mini Big Band’, these Crooners feature songs from Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Matt Monro, Nat King Cole and Bobby Darin. Expect some Lady is a Tramp, Come Fly With Me, L.O.V.E, When You’re Smiling, Fly Me To The Moon, Beyond The Sea, Mac The Knife any many more…
